Three New Academy Boks
The Sharks Academy is proud of the next generation of Sharks Academy players to have been selected for the Springboks, bringing to 10 the number of Springboks produced in 10 years.
Congratulations go to Lwazi Mvovo, Patrick Lambie and Keegan Daniel who have been selected for the end of year Springbok Tour to the UK, all three having played a pivitol role in The Sharks successes this Absa Currie Cup, including being crowned champions on Saturday 30 October after they beat Western Province in a home final.
Lwazi Mvovo didn't miss a single game, starting all 16 matches for the tournament and scored 12 tries, the most of any Sharks player and the second-most of the tournament.
Keegan Daniel scored the second highest number of tries (8) for The Sharks (behind Mvovo) and the most by any forward in the competition. He was in the starting 15 for each of the 14 games he was selected to play in - on both sides of the flank as well as at eighthman.
Patrick Lambie finished the season as Man of the Match in the Absa Currie Cup Final for his two tries, three conversion and three penalties for an individual points' haul of 25 of his team's 30 points. He scored 205 points over the course of the Absa Currie Cup, the second highest of the tournament. He played in all 16 games.
Between the three of them, they accounted for six Absa Man of the Match awards over the course of the competition. From the Starting 22, the following players have all attended The Sharks Academy:
